Qualification: M.Sc. in one of the following subjects: Physics, Engineering Physics or Applied Physics with a minimum aggregate of 60%. Students must have Physics and Mathematics at the under graduate level. Candidates expecting a Master degree in any one of the above subjects by August 31st 2017 can also apply.
Eligibility Criteria : The candidates should have qualified at least one of the national level examinations:
(i) JEST – 2017 (in Physics)
(ii) GATE in Physics (Paper code PH) valid for 2015/2016/2017 and
(iii) CSIR– UGC-JRF-NET in June 2016 or December 2016 in Physical Sciences (Subject code PHY).
Stipend & Facilities: Rs. 25,000/- per month shall be paid, which will be raised to Rs. 28,000/- per month after two years, subject to satisfactory academic review; a book grant of Rs. 22,000/- per year; free accommodation and medical facility will be provided at a nominal charge. Partial support for attending conferences in abroad may be given to students during their PhD tenure.
Age Limit: Not more than 26 years as on 1st Aug. 2017 (born on or after 01/08/1991). Age relaxation is admissible to SC/ST/OBC/PWD etc. as per Government of India orders on the subject from time to time. Age limit is relaxable by five years for SC/ST and three years for OBC applicants. Persons with Disability (PWD) of all categories are eligible for age relaxation of 10 years.
How to Apply: The candidates who satisfy the above criteria may apply. The short listed candidates will be invited to appear for a personal interview at IPR. The selection of the candidates shall be based on performances in two rounds of comprehensive interviews. Second round of interview may spill over next day from the date of first round of interview depending on the number of (shortlisted) candidates. Institute does not take the responsibility of overnight stay of the candidates. Request for a change of date or time of interview shall not be entertained. The interviews shall be conducted during 27th June – 30th June 2017.
